Spanish Town Heritage Trail

Good news for Spanish Town as a new project to restore the historic Georgian buildings around Emancipation Square is launched.

FGSJ was recently contacted by William (Bill) Poinsett, Project Coordinator of the Spanish Town Heritage Tourism Project. Bill writes that he has been appointed to coordinate the Heritage Tourism Project for the St Catherine Parish Council in Spanish Town.

Bill says: “We are currently restoring the historic Georgian buildings around Emancipation Square in Spanish Town. This project is being financed by the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) and the work is being managed by the Urban Development Corporation (UDC). An office has been established at the St. Catherine Parish Council to coordinate the development of Spanish Town as a major Colonial Heritage Tourism site on the Island.”

This is great news and we look forward to seeing how the project develops.

You can find out more about the project on the Spanish Town Heritage Trail Facebook page.
