The Morant Bay Rebellion

Gad Heuman, Professor Emeritus in the Department of History, and specialist in the history of the Morant Bay Rebellion will talk to us about this particularly important event in Jamaican history.

Professor Heuman participated in this programme and we are very fortunate that he will talk to us.

Professor Heuman has served as Director of the Centre for Caribbean Studies at the University of Warwick.

He is the author of Between Black and White: Race, Politics, and the Free Coloreds in Jamaica, 1792-1865; The Killing Time: The Morant Bay Rebellion in Jamaica; and The Caribbean: A Brief History. He has edited several books and is the editor of the journal, Slavery & Abolition. He also contributed two pieces to Barringer and Modest’s Victorian Jamaica.
